Disaster Relief

When a disaster occured, Tzu Chi volunteers immediately provide help and care to disaster victims. In providing disaster reliefs, Tzu Chi volunteers adheres to the principle of “direct, prioritize, essential, respectful, and prompt act.”.

Tzu Chi's provision of assistance to victims of natural disasters is generally divided into three stages: short -term, medium -term, and long -term. These three levels mean preserving the body, calming the mind, and restoring life.

For the short term care, the actions taken are to provide food, beverages, health treatment, and financial aid. For the medium term, usually occurred in the form of construction of temporary shelters (tents), with adequate MCK (bathing, washing, and latrine) facilities.
