Bamboo Bank, Goodwill Savings

“Can you help other people with five hundred or one thousand rupiah?” The short answer is, “Yes you can!” The same question was asked half a century ago, when Master Cheng Yen, the founder of Tzu Chi, started a humanitarian activity and invited her students and 30 housewives who were his followers to put 50 cents of NTD (around 400 rupiah) every day into a bamboo bank to help others. This spirit is firmly assured to bring good to the community. Master has invited her students to consistently pledge goodwill and do charity starting from a small fund.In the spirit of this bamboo bank, the Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation's charitable mission began, and universal love spread throughout the world.

You can also donate to Tzu Chi through the Tzu Chi bamboo bank, by setting aside some funds in the bamboo bank with the intention of helping others everyday. When it is already full you may send it to any Tzu Chi Offices throughout Indonesia, or the funds can also be transferred to the Bank account of the Buddhist Tzu Chi Indonesia Foundation.

The old adage “Little by little, it becomes a hill” illustrates the effort of collecting something consistently , even though it is a small amount, it will eventually become a big amount, especially if it is done by a lot of people.

May everyone always make good vows and do good deeds every day with the hope that the world will be free from disaster.
