Health Fund
One of the root causes of poverty for many people is believed to be caused by the mistreatment of disease. That is the main reason the health mission is made available through mass and special health services to help people who can not afford proper medical treatment for certain conditions. Master Cheng Yen, the founder of Tzu Chi, held the principle that every human life is very valuable, thus inviting every Tzu Chi volunteer and other community members to accompany and assist those who are sick.
This health fund is allocated for Tzu Chi health social service activities held in Indonesia. From 1999 to 2019 it was recorded that Tzu Chi Indonesia had held 23 large-scale health social services in various regions in Indonesia. It was recorded that 273,791 patients had received treatment in the form of cleft lip surgery, cataracts, pterygium, entropion, hernia, minor/major surgery, goiter, tubectomy, circumcision, teeth, and other general treatments.
