Character Building Class (primay to secondary level)
In addition to provide formal education, Indonesian Tzu Chi also promotes informal education activities that focus on character education. This activity is called the Character Building Class. Such kind of class was once held in 1997, in the early days of Indonesian Tzu Chi. After a while, in mid 2000, this kind of class is held again.
The Character Building class is divided into several grade levels: Qin Zi Ban (5-8 years old children), Er Tong Ban ( 8-12 years old children), and Tzu Shao Ban (13-16 years old teenagers). Apart from the children, on several occasions parents are also invited to attend the class to learn how to apply the character education in the family. Especially for the students of the Cinta Kasih Tzu Chi School in Cengkareng, the class is also held under the name Ai De Xi Wang (primary level) and Tzu Shao Ban (secondary level).
The Character Building class is held once a month. Through this informal education, accompanied by Tzu Chi volunteers, the participating children learn and are encouraged to respect and be filial to their parents,to be grateful for the blessings they enjoy, to live in a harmonious society, as well as to love the environment.
