Special Aid Recipients: We Are One Family
Tzu Chi people, in addition to practicing compassionate and selfless giving, must also be able to regard others as our own brothers and sisters and be able to feel the suffering of others as our own. The main task of Tzu Chi people is to help the underprivileged and guide them to become people who are able to help others according to their abilities, as well as invite those who are able to help the less fortunate.
Case Survey
Before providing assistance, Tzu Chi people conduct a survey first to families who apply for assistance so that they can better understand the problems they are experiencing so that assistance can be distributed appropriately and wisely. Even when conducting surveys, volunteers must have the spirit of a charitable mission, which is to respect the soul and equality of all living things.
Love Visit
Master Cheng Yen said that loving visits is a very important task, we should treat all parents in this world as our own parents, all people of the same age as our brothers. A love visit is not just to see if the recipient of Tzu Chi (Gan En Hu) is at home, but to give sincere and warm attention to all Gan En Hu members, so that a close relationship will be established. On the other hand, for volunteers, visits of love provide many lessons about human life and become more aware and grateful for the blessings they have.
Sunday, October 9, 2011 Tzu Chi volunteers came to make a love visit as well as to clean up the lonely place of Ade Salim. After suffered from a stroke, he couldn't manage his house, resulting an unhygienic environment. Since Ade could not get out of bed, the mattress he occupied has worn out. Ade also told the volunteer that at night the cats slept beside his bed, but he couldn't get rid of the cats because he couldn't move them. The air in his bedroom is very stuffy and lifeless, which might triggered Ade Salim suffer from other diseases if not properly cared for. Therefore, the volunteers feel the need to help clean Ade Salim's residence so that his house atmosphere becomes fresher, in hope that the fresh air and clean space will speed up the healing process.
