Journalist : Khusnul Khotimah , Photographer : Khusnul KhotimahDozens of students from the Al-Zaytun Islamic Boarding School in Indramayu, West Java, visited Indonesian DAAI TV Office at Tzu Chi Center Complex, Pantai Indah Kapuk, Jakarta, Friday 30 November 2018.
Being able to visit DAAI TV Station has become a fun and valuable experience for 50 students of Al-Zaytun Islamic Boarding School in Indramayu, West Java. Moreover, these 50 students are members of Journalist Study Forum (FSJ). Their curiosity about the ins and outs of journalism and broadcasting world was answered here.
"A truly extraordinary experience. I think DAAI TV is different from other TVs. When we see television, usually there is a soap opera, but here, they discuss more about social and love," said Lulu Ardiani Zain, this 11th grade student.
From a technical aspect, she also gained a lot of knowledge. "In addition to the programs, I also learn how the supervisor and the programmers work, some control everything," Lulu added, who during the study tour on Friday, November 30, 2018 asked many questions to the DAAI TV crew she met.
Gilang (brown coat) is happy to be able to bring his friends to visit DAAI TV.
For the Journalist Study Forum (FSJ) of Al-Zaytun Islamic Boarding School, the visit to DAAI TV is actually the second time. Previously they had visited Kompas TV.
Basthotan Milka Gumilang or known as Gilang was the head of the study tour group which was followed by students from grades 7-12. Gilang was also the one who planned this visit to DAAI TV. His father, Giantara, used to work at DAAI TV as a cameraman and editor so he had an overview of DAAI TV.
"Through my experience in DAAI TV in which I felt very different than the other stations, the most prominent characteristic is the program that they serve to the audience. There is no violence or other elements that could give bad influence to the society. Therefore, I want my friends to feel the same way," said Gilang.
Journalism in Al-Zaytun Islamic Boarding School is quite preserved. Besides wall magazine, other journalistic products here also include videos which are displayed on Youtube channels. While journalistic training is often held as well. There are basic training and advanced training.
But the students did not only gain knowledge about journalism during their visit to DAAI TV, they also got to know more about Buddhist Compassion Relief Tzu Chi Foundation.
"Yes. So the purpose is not only to broaden our perception but also to increase awareness. And coincidentally, in our boarding school, we instilled the teachings that we must be tolerant to other religions," Gilang said again.
Lulu Ardiani Zain enthusiastically asked, both about DAAI TV and about Tzu Chi.
Paul described the humanitarian activities which are one of DAAI TV's concerns.
Therefore the students were very enthusiastic to hear Andre Zulman from Indonesian Tzu Chi Secretariat explaining the history of Tzu Chi and its Missions. In the question and answer session, for example, they also asked why Tzu Chi was very keen on vegetarianism. Likewise, when Paul Florianus S as DAAI TV Program Manager explained the philosophy and a brief profile of DAAI TV. The students in general claimed that they got a lot of inspiration from what DAAI TV had done so far.
Paul really appreciated the enthusiasm shown by the students who came all the way from Indramayu. "They are from Islamic boarding schools in Indramayu. This is also one of the boarding schools which are quite large as well and they are also majoring in journalism. Our hope is that they can be journalists who will spread goodness and love just like the teachings in Buddha Tzu Chi and DAAI TV foundations," Paul said.
