Medical Aid for Covid-19 Handling in Hospitals in Jakarta

Tzu Chi Indonesia has provided medical aid to Indonesian Health Ministry and RSPI Sulianti Saroso, now Tzu Chi Indonesia is providing medical aid in handling the Covid-19 outbreak in Jakarta. Tzu Chi volunteers on Thursday, 19 March 2020 visited the RSPAD Gatot Subroto, RSUP Persahabatan, and Jakarta Health Agency to hand in medical assistance to combat coronavirus which has been affecting Indonesia.
With the spike of number of confirmed cases in Indonesia, especially Jakarta, Tzu Chi Indonesia continues its effort to help the government in fighting the Covid-19 spread in the community. In this opportunity, Tzu Chi hands in medical aid to RSPAD Gatot Soebroto (200 pieces of isolation suit) and RSUP Persahabatan (200 pieces of isolation suit).

Tzu Chi volunteers brought the medical assistance for handling Covid-19 cases in RSPAD Gatot Soebroto.
At the RSPAD Gatot Soebroto, the aid was received by the Deputy Head of the RSPAD Gatot Soebroto, Brigadier General TNI dr. A. Budi Sulistya. Sp.THT-KL., M.A.R.S. According to him, what Tzu Chi did by providing medical assistance for the handling of Covid-19 showed a concrete action at this time.
"I express my gratitude for the medical assistance given by Tzu Chi. This is a concrete form of solidarity. We, in the field, indeed need this PPE (personal protective equipment). And this shows that we all care about each other," said Brigadier General Dr. A. Budi Sulistya.

On the same occasion, Brigadier General Dr. A. Budi Sulistya also advised the public to be vigilant and remain calm and to maintain cleanliness amid the outbreak of Covid-19. "So that we know that the source of infection is a splash of saliva, so we must be vigilant and stay calm. The most important thing is to maintain our body's immunity, because this disease (Covid-19) has yet to find cure. In addition, we must cultivate a healthy and clean life such as diligently washing our hands, using masks at the right time, "explained the Deputy Head of the RSPAD Gatot Soebroto.
After finishing at the RSPAD Gatot Soebroto, Tzu Chi volunteers then continued their visit to Jakarta Health Agency Office (Dinkes) to provide medial assistance of 300 isolation suits and 5000 masks. This assistance from Tzu Chi Indonesia was also received directly by Ani Ruspitawati, Head of the Health Resources of the Jakarta Provincial Health Agency.

"This is an extraordinary support for us, where institutions outside the government also participated. And what has been given by Tzu Chi will be very beneficial for us and our friends who work for the health services related to Covid-19," said Ani Ruspitawati.
According to Ani Ruspitawati, the assistance provided by Tzu Chi was in accordance with the needs of the medical team that was handling Covid-19. "Right now what we really need is PPE (personal protective equipment) for the medical team that serves positive patients Covid-19. "This assistance will later be distributed to hospitals referred to as Covid-19 special referral hospitals in DKI Jakarta," she said.

In Jakarta alone, there are 4 Covid-19 referral hospitals as suggested by Jakarta Health Agency, namely RSUD Tarakan Regional Hospital, RSUD Pasar Minggu, RSUD Duren Sawit, and RSUD Cengkareng. Tzu Chi volunteers also hope that the assistance provided by Tzu Chi Indonesia for the handling of Covid-19 in Jakarta can help the medical team to continue providing maximum services for patients with Covid-19. "We hope that this assistance can be directly utilized, because this disease has begun to spread," explained Yopie Budianto, a Tzu Chi volunteer who handed over the aid for Covid-19 handling at RSPAD Gatot Soebroto and Jakarta Health Agency Office.
