Due to the severity of the pandemic, we first opened the Pandemic Ward on the 9th floor (pandemic building) to be able to participate in saving lives," said Liu Su Mei, Chairperson of the Indonesian Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation.
Before the outpatient service was opened, the Pandemic Ward at Tzu Chi Hospital had been functioning since June 14, 2021, to serve patients with Covid-19. Tzu Chi Hospital's Long Journey
Liu Su Mei further revealed that the Tzu Chi Hospital trip could not be realized in a short time. Various obstacles have been passed to achieve the desired results.
Since 2013, the idea to build a Tzu Chi Hospital has been initiated by Tzu Chi Indonesia. The idea continued until May 2015 and the groundbreaking was carried out. The construction of the Tzu Chi Hospital continue to be carried out until it is completed and is ready for use in 2021.
“From returning to Taiwan for two to three years, seeing and understanding every Tzu Chi Hospital there, then returning to Indonesia making the design, changing it over and over again, and finally starting construction. In development, it has met with a pandemic since last year until now. Of course, this caused the development process to be hampered and the completion was behind schedule," said Liu Su Mei, "So realizing that, tomorrow we have started operations and along this journey, there have been contributions from many people, we are really very happy."
