Life Wisdom: Pooling Love Together to Ease the Pandemic

I've learned that our Tzu Chi members around the world have all aspired to support COVID-19 vaccination in Taiwan by donating what they can. The superintendents of our Tzu Chi hospitals have also encouraged medical staff to make donations. I said, "Don't force yourselves to do this," and our superintendents replied: "Master, now is the time for all of us to do our best to help."

They've truly done their best to help, and the supt. and two asst. supts. of our hospital in Hualien have each donated one million NT dollars (35,800 USD). I'm very touched. Our staff has also donated money to help. They save bits of money daily to help the needy, and this time, they've also made a large donation.

Tzu Chi members have helped with the vaccination in various ways. Apart from making a donation, some have also held charity fairs to encourage everyone to give. For example, our Tzu Chi volunteers in the U.S. For example, our Tzu Chi volunteers in the U.S. have made and sold more than 4,000 rice dumplings to raise funds to help to end the pandemic.

Let us all pray for peace and sow more blessings by giving of ourselves with sincere piety. Let us vow to mitigate disasters and live out our vows. To mitigate disasters, we must do good at all times. This is how we can sow blessings. Doing good and sowing blessings is a great way to mitigate disasters and bring about peace.

There are Tzu Chi volunteers in many countries and regions. When a disaster strikes, our volunteers will reach out quickly to help those affected. This time, they've been calling on everyone to help end the pandemic by giving what they can. Just like how drops of water, when accumulated, can form rivers and oceans, bits of money can also add up considerably to help countless people.

If we are the only one that helps others, no matter how we strive, it's hard for us to bring aid to many, whereas by pooling everyone's donation together, we can help more people. Take the land for example. To till a piece of land, we need sunlight during the day we need sunlight during the day while the dew at night can nourish the land. When there is sunlight, dew, air, and fertile land, the seeds we sow can grow well. In the same way, with good conditions, seeds of goodness can grow into a field of blessings.

I often say that one seed can give rise to innumerable ones. To have a big tree, we must first sow a seed. One seed can grow into one tree, ten seeds can grow into ten trees, and many seeds can grow into a forest. We reap what we sow, which is a true principle. What about conditions? The land, the sun, and water are all good conditions for a seed.

The seed is most important. Yet, without the land, seeds cannot grow into trees. So, for seeds to grow into trees, there must be land, air, and sunlight. We all know about this. A bowl of rice is made from single grains of rice. With good conditions, a grain can multiply into innumerable ones.

All consequences come from a combination of causes and conditions. We Tzu Chi members are all blessed. As we'd worked together to sow blessings for the world in our past lives, we can enjoy good affinities and walk the Bodhisattva Path together to sow blessings for the world in this life.

Having seen so many people give with love, I feel somewhat relieved. I've seen how everyone has aspired to help with vaccination in Taiwan. No matter how much they've donated, they've sown blessings. To sow blessings, they've given with love. This is also how they've brought about hope and helped to mitigate disasters. We must sow more blessings. Only then can we mitigate disasters. When there is more evil on a balance, goodness will weigh less. When goodness increases, it can outweigh the evil.

I'm very grateful because with so many people sowing blessings and helping others get vaccinated, this pandemic, which has been raging for a long time, can end more quickly than expected. Then, instead of being subject to lockdowns, everyone can enjoy good health, breathe fresh air without a face mask, and enjoy freedom to move about. Let us encourage all to help end the pandemic.
A smart person places great emphasis on gain and loss, whereas a wise person is courageous to let go.
