Life Wisdom: Seizing Every Moment to Give with Love

We see how wildfires have been burning day and night. As one of the seven parables in the Lotus Sutra, the Parable of the Burning House conveys a sense of urgency. This parable described how children in a house remained deluded even though the house had caught fire. Despite seeing the fire, the children kept on playing because they were deluded and their hearts were burning with desires.

Many of us are as deluded as these children and we constantly let our hearts burn with desires, thus bringing about wildfires in many places. If wildfires occur all over the world, where can we flee? I'm very worried. According to scientists' research on the climate, the Earth, the air, etc., the Earth will still be at peace for some time.

However, this period of time has been shortened as the Earth suffers more and more damage and natural disasters occur more and more frequently. As we humans fail to keep our desires in check, there are more and more people creating bad karma and damaging the Earth. Due to people's desires, more disasters are impending. Wildfires, floods, earthquakes, and storms around the world have truly made us anxious and worried.

Look at our Tzu Chi volunteers. They all give with love and help the needy more than willingly. How heartwarming! How admirable our volunteers are! We are carrying out relief projects. To help the needy, we must give with love, and wherever there are people in need, we must do all we can to help them. We see how the poor are also willing to give of themselves.

Seeing how we've helped them by giving of ourselves, they feel that they can also help others, and by helping others, they are filled with joy and become spiritually rich. We can all help the poor and inspire them to give and become spiritually rich. In life, if we can serve joyfully with an open heart and treat everyone with gratitude, respect, and love, we will be the most blessed.

The wealthy can help many people in need if they are determined to give. As long as they give a small part of what they have, they can bring aid to many. Yet, can they always make it? Sometimes, they'll also encounter difficulties. Even if they are wealthy and aspire to help the needy, things just cannot go as they wish. They work hard most of their lives and are blessed with wealth.

Yet, they may find it hard to live out their aspiration of helping the needy. They fail to live out their aspiration, and after they draw their last breath, they can no longer live it out. Such are their lives. I often say that we must seize time to give and serve. Giving is receiving no matter how much we can give. By doing good, we can sow blessings, and when we sow blessings, we are also creating blessings for ourselves.

We reap what we sow. In all, we must tap into our wisdom, for only with wisdom can we awaken to life's truths. More disasters are descending upon us, so we must turn our knowledge into wisdom. If we only have knowledge, we might only wish to make more money. So, we must tap into our wisdom and help others. This is also how we can sow blessings for ourselves.

While working hard for our career, we must also aspire to help the needy and seize every opportunity to serve. Every one of us shares the same Buddha nature. We can all bring forth our Buddha nature to help others with love. This is how we serve with the Buddha's heart and go amongst people to relieve their suffering.

We can all serve with the Buddha's heart at any time, and if we do it unwaveringly at each moment, naturally we can attain Buddhahood and awaken to all the true principles in the universe. Everyone, we must have this great awakening. What does it mean to attain Buddhahood? It means awakening to our true nature and finding our inner Buddha. For that, we must eliminate our desires and cultivate ourselves.

Let us look around the world and give with compassion and love to relieve people from their suffering. This is how we walk the Bodhisattva Path. When we reach the end of this path, we will feel a sense of joy and ease. This is attaining Buddhahood. So, we can walk the Bodhisattva Path at any time and attain Buddhahood every day. For that, we must seize the time we have.

Looking around the world, we see many people in suffering. So, we must give with love at all times. Remember, there are 86,400 seconds in a day, so we must seize every second to give with love. With each passing second, we must give with love and harbor goodness within. This is how we walk the Bodhisattva Path and attain Buddhahood. Everyone, please seize the time you have and be mindful always.
Nothing is impossible with confdence, perseverance, and courage.
