The Vision and Mission of Tzu Chi
"Tzu Chi" literally means "Compassion Relief". Tzu Chi's mission is to provide material assistance while cultivating love and a sense of humanity in both donors and recipients.
Master Cheng Yen believes that by cultivating love for others, it will reduce the suffering and problems in the world. "To save the world, we must start by changing the human heart," she encourages.
Tzu Chi aspires to purify human`s hearts, to establish a safe and peaceful society, and to eliminate disasters from the world. This vision could only be achieved by cultivating the seeds of love within everyone. To achieve the vision, Tzu Chi carries out the 4 main missions, 8 footprints, namely:
